A Novel by Katherine Center
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
New York Times bestselling author Katherine Center’s newest romance book, The Shippers, is a lovely twist on the trope – on a cruise ship! JoJo Burton’s seven year relationship goes out the window when her best friend Cooper – who left town without a word four years ago after JoJo got engaged – shows up at her wedding. He’s not the cause, but he is the catalyst. After helping her escape, he leaves town again without any explanations. Cooper shows up again for her sister’s eight-day wedding cruise, and while JoJo has her sights set on her first crush (with Cooper as her wingman), long-held truths unravel to change their friendship forever.
The Shippers is another delightful romcom with lovable characters and fun pre-wedding antics. It’s a predictable series of events and the ending was preachy, but Center’s storytelling is always delightful and I’ll read anything she writes. The audiobook version was excellent, with the author reading the dedication and author’s note so passionately before the book starts. Absolutely perfect way to start an audiobook. She also reads the acknowledgements at the end of the book, and that – along with the music that both opens and closes the audiobook – gives the entire production a touch of class often overlooked.
